A brand new magnetic resonance imaging machine (MRI) was installed in the radiology wing of the hospital. Affectionately dubbed “Rex” by the radiology team, the large machine was manufactured and assembled in Houston, Texas, buy US-based technicians.

Months of planning and preparations preceded the installation of the new unit, which ended up going according to plan and actually arrived ahead of schedule.
Multiple features will make the new MRI a pleasure to use, providing a better experience for our patients. One of these features is pinhole lighting, which makes the interior of the machine appear much bigger, and more open, to the patient inside. This will help those who need full-body scans but suffer from claustrophobia.

The MRI also includes a fully detachable bed, so that patients can be wheeled into and out of the machine completely, by staff, even in the event of a power outage. Another much-needed benefit is the addition of an MRI-safe IV pump, which remains attached to the patient throughout the procedure, without interfering with the machine’s operation or causing trouble with the powerful magnetics.
An open house for employees to learn more about the MRI was held on July 17.
